The XCEARA's history starts in 1992 when it was made the first event in the very dry Brazil's northeast region where Ceará is located. During this event several records were broken day after day, in a great flying full week. That call the attention from pilots all over the world for the excelent conditions offered in this area.

Unfortunalluy, the next years the event didn't happened again living in pilot's mind only the remembering of the great week they had spent in that flying paradise. Four years later (in 1996), Ceará Total and GO UP BRAZIL decided to work together to bring pilots from all over Brazil and also overseas, to recall that great event and try to brake the south american records again. The result was a wonderfull flying season with many broken records (HG and PG) again.

Since that the event are growing every yeaer bringing pilot's from all over the world. The local tourism bureau liked the idea ant decided to support it offering good cash prizes. The great flying conditions associated to an atractive cash prize made the success formula for the XCEARA.

Already on it's 6th year of existence, the "X-Ceará" competition is growing every year and is becoming wellknown by international HG and PG names as Chris Muller, Andrew Smith, Peter Brinkeby, Othar Lawrance, Stephan Stiegler, Manfred Ruhmer, Mario Alonzi, and many others, maintaining the incredible average of 100% of valid tasks out of all 5 years of "X-Ceará" event. This and other facts are making Ceará in one of the best Cross Country sites in the world.

Due the cross country retrive complexity the organization decided to set the maximum number of pilots in 50, which today are not enough to demand the number of pilots who wish to take part of it.
